Shelby’s Junior Engineer School is for children of all ages to learn to operate a train. We found riding trains is popular, but getting to operate a train is rare. Shelby started her engineer school in 2012 to allow a unique hands on experience for our guests. We provide basic instructions for operation including speed, safety and horn operation. We take a short trip down the track and back allowing the student engineer to gain a feel of controlling the locomotive using a custom built joystick control. Speed is limited to 2mph allowing children and adults to operate safely. Photography is encouraged and we take photos (with your permission) for our Facebook page.
