Hi Webmaster:
This is really tough to do. I am only involved at the request of a friend who winters in the same trailer park in Arizona as the owner of the locomotive. I am an HO model railroader with limited knowledge of live steam models. Al I really know is that the locomotive has been partially built by the late husband of the owner, Nancy Bierman. Mrs. Bierman is an elderly lady who would like to exchange the engine for some cash and get it out of her shed and into the hands of someone who could finish it.
Mrs. Bierman is much more knowledgeable of live steam locomotives than I am as she travelled to various club layouts with her late husband and has run steam locomotives herself. I have only been involved to the point of trying to put her in contact with an interested party.
It is a Mogul and is an Allen Models kit supplied by Mr. Allen of California. I understand Allen Models no longer is in business, likewise the boiler manufacturer also is not in business.
The locomotive is built up to the chassis stage with drivers, cylinders, brake rigging all installed. Evidently the boiler has been pressure tested. The remaining parts and drawings to complete the engine are available.
Because of my research in this matter I have advised Mrs. Bierman to ask $7000.00 and to go from there.
Mrs. Bierman can be contacted at gldfrog1@aol.com . She has some photos that could be sent to interested folks.
Regards,
Bill Van Bergen

Dear Friends:
The Great American Train Company is a Minnesota-based manufacturer of 1.5” scale steam profile, battery-operated locomotives. We’re offering very special pricing this summer to members of live steam clubs.
Our Baldwin Mogul locomotive with riding tender normally sells for US$14,995. From May 18, 2009 through August 31, 2009 we are offering 15% off to the general public and another 10% — a total of 25% — off of that price to our fellow live steamers.
Our goal is to get at least one of our locos at most of the club tracks in North America during 2009. It was suggested to us by several customers that a really aggressive price would help a lot to get this done.
Can you help us in any way to get this information out to your club’s members?
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance. You can read about our products at www.greatamericantrain.com.
Best regards and happy railroading,
Mark

The train is set-up on a new two wheel trailer for towing with a car or small pick-up
truck. I estimate the weight of the complete train and trailer at about 1000 pounds. This
engine is a runner, fast, with exceptional pulling power and is very easy to run, very forgiving.
You can check and adjust either firing or water level in about two seconds. Because of having
a vertical boiler the engine does not require any additional inputs to fire up, just open the
valve on the propane tank and light the burner after you fill the boiler and water tank with
water. The train and trailer are located in Reno, Nevada.
